Student activities included a TMTA Honors Recital in which each member could recommend two students to perform at a local retirement center. Holiday Music at the Mall is an event in which each member may reserve a block of time for his or her students to perform holiday music at Governor’s Square Mall. February was our annual Howard Wilson competition. In March a meeting for our members on the “Importance of Student Evaluations” was held as well as the Concerto competition and Community Service Award recommendations. April brought our Summer Music Camp auditions for music scholarships for three students, DSD, and DSD Honors Recital. The year ended with a dinner for members and spouses.

The biggest challenge for TMTA 2006-2007 was be serving as the host association to the Southern Division Meeting January 12 – 15, 2007 at FSU College of Music. I can happily report that event was very successful. The donations received from the majority of our District and Local Associations made it possible. The remaining was made as a donation to FSMTF.

The second biggest challenge was to obtain our 501© 3 and that challenge was also successful!!

During the summer of 2007 the Executive Board of TMTA had a planning session for the 2007-2008 Year. The committee made the decision to have less meetings; therefore, allowing teachers to have more time to prepare for student events. Attached is a copy of the calendar for the year with all the activities for our association. Our opening meeting was held at the home of Ruben Malan. At this meeting each chairperson gave a review of the requirements and goals of each of our student events with the require paperwork to be completed by each participate. Our yearbooks are spiral notebooks where each member has one place in which to keep all of the papers that pertain to any event that TMTA sponsors. The goal is to strive to avoid the last minute rush as to where each member will get the necessary forms. The meeting was well attended and very informative.
